An artist. I do not claim to be. A writer. I was not supposed to be. And yet, feathers caressing softly upon my fingers urging me to create. A pen, gripped firmly in my righthand scribbling words upon the page giving meaning to my art. My creation. My gift to the world. Beauty. A slice of Heaven here on Earth. In accordance with the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, all feathers collected for my artwork were from peacocks, a nonnative species in Florida. The feathers were gathered exclusively during walks in my community, where a large population of peacocks made it possible to collect them naturally.
